My child and I are new to gymnastics, which class do we choose?

- Sea Squirts (2 1/2-4 years old)
- Crazy Crabs (4-5 years old)
- Lively Lobsters (5 + years old)
- Electric Eels (By evaluation only)
- Super Starfish (By evaluation only)
- Tumbling Tides (7 + years old)

**If your child is under the age of 8, we recommend that you start in a gymnastics (4 Olympic Events) class. If Tumbling Tides is desired, it can be added as a secondary class. 

 

How do I know what level my child is?

Almost all children will start at the beginner level if they are new to gymnastics. However, our mission at WCEG is to provide the best gymnastics to every child at their level.  If your child has had previous gymnastics or tumbling experience you may schedule a free placement evaluation.

 

What is a placement evaluation?

A placement evaluation is used for students who are new to WCEG and who also have previous gymnastics experience. An evaluator will spend time with the child out in the gym to determine the child’s skill level and what class will be best suited for them.

 

Is there a cost to schedule a placement evaluation?

All placement evaluations are completely free of charge.

 

How long will the evaluation take?

This really depends on the child’s experience and skill level, but typically the placement evaluation will last no longer than 10 minutes.

 

How do I schedule a placement evaluation?

To schedule a placement evaluation, you can call, email, or speak with one of our front desk staff.

 

What happens during the placement evaluation?

The evaluating coach will take the child around to the different apparatus in the gym and have the child perform any pertinent skills that they can safely execute on their own.

 

What happens after my child’s placement evaluation?

After the evaluation, the coach will meet with you to discuss which class is best suited for your child.  Then, one of our front desk staff will help you enroll in a class time that works well with your schedule.

 

What does my child wear to class?

- Boys or girls may wear tucked in t-shirts and shorts or leotards for girls.
- Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire workout.
- Girls should not wear bows or other large hair ornaments that may cause discomfort during activity.
- No shoes or socks.  All students should be barefoot during class.
- No chewing gum or jewelry are allowed.
- Personal items should be left in cubby holes.
- West Coast Elite Gymnastics will not be responsible for any items that may be lost or stolen.
- Be sure your child’s personal items are marked with their name.

 

If my child misses a class, can I schedule a make-up class?

WCEG allows 2 make-up classes per session (2 months).  Make-up classes must be schedule within the same session as the missed class and are subject to space availability.

 

How early do I need to enroll to hold a class?

You can enroll up to one week in advance.

 

Can my child attend more than one class a week?

Absolutely! Please refer to our recreation class pricing page for exact fees.

 

I think my child is ready to move up, can I schedule an evaluation?

Evaluations for each recreation class are on the week before the last week of each session.  Gymnasts must successfully complete all skills on the evaluation card for their respective classes in order to move up in level.

 

How do I enroll?

We ask all parents to create a member account on our parent portal:

1) Once your account is created, search for the class you want your child to try using our “Find a Class” tool. Everyone new to gymnastics usually starts in the beginning level, depending on the program.  However, if you need assistance determining the proper class for your child, please contact wcegymnastics@gmail.com or speak with our front desk personnel. We will be happy to schedule a free placement evaluation for any child with prior gymnastics or tumbling experience.
2) Once you have selected the class, click “Submit Request”.

 

Can my child participate in a trial class before we make our decision to enroll?

Yes. We are very confident both you and your child will love his/her class, you may schedule a free trial class before enrolling. You can schedule a free trial class online through the Parent Portal. If you do not already have an account, you will need to create one at this time.

 

How do I enroll my child in a free trial class?

1) Create a Parent Portal account online
2)Once your account is created, search for the class you want your child to try using our “Find a Class” tool. 3)Once you have selected the class, click “Submit Request”.
4)Select the student you are scheduling a trial class for.
5)Select Enrollment Type as “Trial”.
6)When choosing a start date, enter the date you would like to attend the trial class. All trials are subject to availability.

 

What should I expect on the day of my child’s free trial class?

You will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your child’s class. You will need to check in at the front desk.  Our front desk staff will direct you from there.  Socks, shoes and other belongings can be stored in the cubbies.

 

If I need to drop a class, can you hold my spot until next month?

Unfortunately, we cannot hold your spot if the class is dropped.  When you are ready to re-enroll, you can do this up to one week prior to student's day of return subject to class availability.  You will not have to repay your registration fee when you return.

 

What is your drop policy?

Members dropping from class prior to the 1st will not be charged for tuition.  
Additionally:

- Tuition refunds are not issued to members dropping on or after the 1st.
- A class credit may be given to members dropping on or after the 1st

 

How do I drop my kids from class?

To drop any gymnastics class, members must notify West Coast Elite Gymnastics prior to the 25th of the month by email.

 

Does WCEG charge a registration fee?

Yes, there is a $50 annual registration fee for the one child, $75 for two family members, and $100 for three or more family members due upon enrollment.  Annual registration fee after July 1st will be $28 per child for students 13 years and under.  Registration fees will be charged on January 1st of each year for enrolled students.                                                                                    

 

When is tuition due?

Tuition is due in advance on the 1st of each month.

 

Does WCEG ever charge late fees?

Tuition paid after the 1st of the month will incur a $15 late fee.

 

Do members on auto-pay incur late fees?

No. Members paying through auto-pay never pay late fees.

 

What happens if I fail to pay tuition?

We send a friendly tuition reminder email to all students with an unpaid balance notifying them that, if the unpaid balance is not received by the 9th, the student will be removed from the class roll and another student may fill the spot in the class.  A $25 fee is charged on all returned checks.

 

How do I enroll in Auto-Pay?

In order to enroll in Bank Draft Auto-Pay, you will need to enter your checking account information through your Parent Portal account, which includes your routing number and bank account.  Another option is to pay with your debit/credit card on file.           

 

When will tuition be drafted out of my account?

Funds are automatically drafted from the member’s bank account on the 1st of the month. If the 1st falls on a weekend or bank holiday, funds are drafted on the first bank day after the 1st.

 

If I enroll in the middle of a session, will my tuition be prorated?

Yes, you will only be charged for the weeks that you will attend for the remainder of the session. If you enroll the last week of the session, we will ask for the last week’s prorated amount as well as the following month’s tuition.

 

If I enroll more than one child, do I get a discount?

Yes. There is a 10% discount over the normal fee for the 2nd child and a 15% discount for the 3rd child on.                                

 

If the gym is closed for a holiday, will my tuition be prorated?

WCEG Tuition is based on a 2 calendar month session for the year. There is a minimum of 50 classes for each day, Monday through Saturday, during the year. The gym will be closed for the following observed holidays: New Year’s Day 1/1/14, Memorial Day 5/26/14, Independence Day 7/4/14, Labor Day 9/1/14, Thanksgiving Weekend 11/27-11/29/14, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. Please note that we do not offer make up classes for our observed holidays and that the holiday schedule is subject to change.

 

I will miss a gymnastics class, will we be refunded that class?

West Coast Elite Gymnastics has open enrollment year-round for all classes. Each class is charged at a flat session fee. The fee reserves the student’s place in the class whether attending or not. Therefore, there are no refunds for classes missed including scheduled holidays.  However, there are 2 make-up classes available per session for each child.
